Bluebeard's Castle was originally programmed for Opera in the East which was part of the Local Programme at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It was presented as part of Go East Fest!

 

After acclaimed performances in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last year, Arcola Creative Engagement’s giant puppet opera returned to Dalston to open Grimeborn 2016.

​

Béla Bartók’s entrancing masterpiece came to life infront of an 800 strong audience with large-scale puppets designed by Oliver James Hymans and operated by a cast of community performers drawn from across East London.

​

Music, dance, movement and puppetry intertwine as Judith and Bluebeard venture deeper into the castle. 

​

Bluebeard’s Castle features recorded music, performed in English.
